The Pakistan MOFA rejects the mediation claims statement and has firmly dismissed recent media reports suggesting Islamabad’s involvement in regional conflict mediation.
In an official response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said it had taken note of several reports circulating in traditional and social media that cited unnamed government sources regarding Pakistan’s alleged role in promoting dialogue.
The ministry categorically rejected these claims, describing them as “baseless” and a “figment of imagination.” It stressed that any attribution to official sources in this context is incorrect. Officials also raised concerns over the misrepresentation of a recent Friday briefing at the Foreign Office, noting that issues mentioned in media reports were neither discussed nor hinted at during the session.
The statement highlights growing concern over the use of unnamed or so-called “official sources” in sensitive diplomatic matters. By strongly denying such claims, the ministry signalled a clear stance against misinformation related to Pakistan’s foreign policy.
Observers note that inaccurate reporting in high-stakes regional situations can complicate diplomatic relations and create misunderstandings among international stakeholders.

The clarification appears aimed at safeguarding Pakistan’s diplomatic position during ongoing regional tensions. Being incorrectly portrayed as a mediator or aligned with any party could have broader implications for foreign relations.
The Foreign Office reiterated that only verified and officially communicated statements should be considered accurate representations of Pakistan’s stance.
