Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is set to broaden its operational capabilities by launching various new domestic and international flights, thereby boosting its global and regional connectivity with the Boeing 777 and Airbus 320 fleet.
Starting January 20, 2025, PIA will begin operating two weekly flights from Sialkot to Bahrain and launch a weekly flight from Lahore to Kuwait on January 25. Furthermore, PIA is scheduled to start a weekly flight between Peshawar and Karachi on January 25 and between Sialkot and Doha on January 21.
Fleet Expansion and Operational Enhancements
On December 30, 2024, PIA’s acting CEO, Khurram Mushtaq, announced an ambitious plan to reintegrate several grounded aircraft into service. By mid-2025, PIA aims to increase its operational fleet to 24 aircraft by reactivating its Boeing 777 and Airbus models.

Out of 34 aircraft in PIA’s fleet, 19 are operational after the team’s efforts to bring three more aircraft into service, including a Boeing 777, an Airbus 320, and an ATR.
Mushtaq highlighted that the activated Boeing 777 aircraft would be primarily used for flights to European destinations, aiming to fully operationalize all 34 of PIA’s aircraft within the year. This expansion is expected to boost the airline’s revenue significantly. In recognition of the hard work of PIA employees, the airline has also approved a 25% salary increase for its staff.
