Pakistan’s Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Atta Tarar, announced on April 29, 2025, that credible intelligence suggests India may launch military action against Pakistan within 24 to 36 hours, using unverified allegations tied to the April 22 Pahalgam attack in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir as a pretext.
In a video statement, Tarar warned that any Indian aggression would face a “certain and decisive” response, emphasising Pakistan’s commitment to defending its sovereignty “at all costs.”
Tarar reiterated Pakistan’s call for an open, independent investigation into the Pahalgam incident, which killed 26 civilians, inviting neutral experts to uncover the truth. He criticised India’s refusal, stating, “India’s rejection of an impartial probe exposes its real intentions.”
Pakistan has credible intelligence that India intends carrying out military action against Pakistan in the next 24-36 hours on the pretext of baseless and concocted allegations of involvement in the Pahalgam incident.

Tarar accused India of exploiting the incident for political gain, risking regional stability, and rejected India’s role as “plaintiff, judge, and executioner.” He underscored Pakistan’s two-decade struggle against terrorism and its condemnation of all terrorist acts.

Separately, Pakistan’s UN Mission Counsellor Jawad Ajmal, speaking at the UN’s “Victims of Terrorism Association Network” launch, claimed Pakistan faces externally sponsored terrorism, citing the Jaffar Express attack that killed 30 civilians as evidence of regional adversary involvement. These allegations remain unverified, as do India’s claims against Pakistan, escalating tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbours.
