Pakistan’s passport authority has issued an official statement to counter misinformation. The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has strongly denied rumours on social media about a new passport design.
The department labelled the circulating claims as “misleading.” It confirmed that no changes have been made to the front cover of the national passport. The DGIP stated that images being shared online are fabricated. It described these pictures as “fake” and digitally altered.

The authority urged citizens to be responsible and ignore the false information. It warned that legal action would be taken against those spreading this propaganda.
The clarification noted that the passport’s core design remains the same. The only updates involve adding new security features to prevent forgery.

Last week, the DGIP announced these internal security enhancements. New passports will also include the mother’s name and feature images of historical landmarks on the visa pages.
These updates are part of a move toward modernisation. The printing of these new booklets has already begun after receiving official approval.
