The federal government of Pakistan has announced plans to launch the “Laptop for All” initiative next year. The initiative aims to equip students nationwide with laptops through interest-free loans.
Rana Mashhood, the Prime Minister’s Youth Program (PMYP) chairman, revealed this during a press conference, outlining that students can acquire these laptops via banks.
Mashhood detailed that the government is close to finalizing the scheme’s modalities, with decisions regarding providing these interest-free laptops expected within the next few days. He acknowledged the interim government’s financial hurdles, compounded by stringent IMF conditions, but affirmed that the “Laptops for All” initiative would be incorporated into the forthcoming fiscal budget.
He further noted that last year’s interim government period and the brief window before the current government’s budget submission precluded the inclusion of laptop provision in the previous budget, promising rectification in the upcoming fiscal planning.
