The Finance Ministry of Pakistan announced a reduction in fuel prices, effective immediately, following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s approval.
Petrol prices have been decreased by Rs 4.74 per litre, setting the new price at Rs 268.36 per litre. Similarly, the cost of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been lowered by Rs 3.86 per litre, bringing it down to Rs 270.94 per litre.
This recent price change follows a prior reduction on May 15, when the federal government decreased petrol prices by Rs 15.39 per litre, establishing the rate at Rs 273.10 per litre for the subsequent two weeks. Additionally, the price of high-speed diesel was cut by Rs 7.88 to Rs 274.80 per litre during the same period.
Further adjustments were made to other petroleum products; light diesel saw a reduction of Rs 7.54, bringing its price to Rs 161.17 per litre. Kerosene oil prices dropped by Rs 9.86, now priced at Rs 173.48 per litre. These price changes reflect the government’s ongoing adjustments to fuel costs in response to global oil market trends and domestic economic considerations.
