The Rain and Flood Emergency Monitoring Cell (RFEMC) gave new numbers for water moving through major dams. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah warned there could be a huge flood, and he asked for strong climate change laws. More than 800 people have died, and floods have caused $50 billion in damages.
Water Levels at Main Barrages
- Guddu Barrage: 350,742 cusecs in, 336,627 cusecs out
- Sukkur Barrage: 285,487 cusecs in, 234,717 cusecs out
- Kotri Barrage: 273,844 cusecs in, 244,739 cusecs out
These high water levels mean the rivers (Chenab, Ravi, Sutlej) could cause more flooding. Four days ago, Qadirabad Barrage got 1,077,000 cusecs. Experts say Guddu Barrage might reach up to 1.1 million cusecs, which is very dangerous and called a “super flood”.
Murad Ali Shah spoke with other leaders at a press meeting. He said keeping people and animals safe is most important, followed by protecting big dams. Sindh’s government is working with the army and navy to help. Teams are watching water levels and are ready for more evacuation if needed.
Shah asked Pakistan’s federal government to make stronger climate change policies. He said India released lots of water into rivers running to Pakistan, which makes floods worse. Over 2,200 villages are under water, and 750,000 people have had to leave their homes because of the flooding.

Floods in 2025 came from heavy rains, melting glaciers, and fast river water. Over 840 people have died and 1.2 million have been affected. Main cities like Lahore are also at risk. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said more heavy rain was coming from September 1 to 3, and called for better drainage and planting more trees.
Pakistan creates less than 1% of global pollution, but faces big problems from changing weather. The government says it needs stronger plans and better systems to help people during floods
