On June 8, 2025, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq approved the schedule for Pakistan’s federal budget session for 2025-26. The National Assembly (NA) will present the budget on June 10, following the release of the Pakistan Economic Survey on June 9, as announced by Adviser to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad.
The NA will pause its sessions on June 11 and 12, resuming on June 13 to begin debates on the federal budget. According to the NA Secretariat, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq stated, “Parliamentary parties will have time to discuss as per regulations. ” Debates will continue until June 21, when the assembly will finalise the budget.
The NA will not hold a session on June 22. On June 23, members will present and debate the necessary expenses for 2025-26. Debates and voting on deductions and grants will be held on June 24 and 25, with the Finance Bill 2025-26 slated for finalisation on June 26. The assembly will address supplementary grants and other issues on June 27, with any schedule changes subject to the Speaker’s approval.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasised that the budget prioritises relief for citizens, focusing on job creation, agriculture, IT, small and medium enterprises, and housing. Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal announced a Rs1 trillion development budget and hinted at increased defence spending, reflecting the government’s economic strategy.
