In a decisive move, the Pakistan Government announced the expulsion of the Iranian ambassador following airspace violations by Iran. Additionally, Pakistan’s envoy in Tehran is being recalled.
Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch in Islamabad confirmed the decision.
The situation escalated after Tehran launched drone and missile attacks against a group it labelled as terrorists, located within Pakistani territory at “Green Mountain”. Iranian state media reported the destruction of this group’s headquarters.
This incident marks a significant turn in Iran-Pakistan relations, with further updates expected as the story develops.
Recent reports indicate that Tehran launched a strike on what it claimed was a terrorist base in Pakistan’s “Green Mountain” area. The attack, involving drones and missiles, destroyed the group’s headquarters, as reported by Iranian state media.
Islamabad has strongly condemned this act by Iran, labelling it a flagrant violation of international norms and United Nations principles. The Foreign Office spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, emphasized the unacceptability of this unprovoked infringement on Pakistan’s sovereignty.
Baloch asserted that Pakistan reserves the right to respond appropriately to this illegal act, holding Iran fully accountable for any repercussions.
In response to these events, Islamabad has also decided to halt all high-level visits, both ongoing and planned, between Pakistan and Iran in the foreseeable future.
