Pakistan has been eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2024 following the cancellation of the United States vs. Ireland match scheduled at Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill, Florida. The match was abandoned on Friday due to a wet outfield.
The US has previously played three matches, beginning the tournament with a victory against Canada and then winning against Pakistan last week.
On the other hand, Ireland lost both of its matches this tournament, first against India and then Canada.
The US achieved wins over Canada and Pakistan early in the tournament. Conversely, Pakistan suffered losses to both the Americans and India.
Due to the match being abandoned, the US and Ireland each received a one-point result, which propelled the USA into the Super 8 of the T20 World Cup with five points, making it impossible for Pakistan to advance.
India has also progressed from Group A, while Pakistan, Ireland, and Canada will exit after their remaining group games. Pakistan’s final match against Ireland will not affect their tournament status, as they are already out of contention.
In previous tournaments, Pakistan reached the semi-final in 2021 and the final in 2022, losing to Australia and England, respectively. They have appeared more than any other team in the six T20 World Cup semi-finals.
