Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced Wednesday that Pakistan will simplify its international visa policy for cricket enthusiasts for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. Yarar highlighted the recent ICC announcement regarding the fixtures and groups for the upcoming global cricket event in Karachi, starting February 19, 2025.
The tournament will feature eight teams and 15 day-night matches across Pakistan and Dubai. Tarar praised the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) efforts in organizing the event and emphasized that sports should not be mixed with politics, referencing India’s decision to avoid playing in Pakistan.
Tarar noted that most matches would occur in Pakistan, showcasing the nation’s culture and tourism. The minister assured that foreign teams would receive a warm welcome in Pakistan.
Tarar encouraged Pakistani fans to support the event actively and expressed hope for a stellar performance by the Pakistan team. Matches in Pakistan will be in Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi, with Lahore set to host the second semi-final and the final on March 9 unless India qualifies, in which case it will move to Dubai.
Tarar’s announcement underscores Pakistan’s readiness to host international events and foster cultural exchanges through sports.
