A 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and surrounding areas. This recent Pakistan earthquake affected many regions, highlighting the need for increased preparedness.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) confirmed the epicentre in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region at a depth of 234 km. This highlights the interconnectedness of seismic activities, such as those during the Pakistan earthquake.
Tremors were felt in:
- Rawalpindi and Islamabad, areas commonly impacted by a Pakistan earthquake.
- Peshawar
- Upper Dir, Malakand, Bajaur
- Chitral, Swat, Murree
- AJK’s Samahni, Bhimber
No damage or casualties were reported. This quake follows a 5.6 magnitude tremor in northern Pakistan four days ago. The region lies at the intersection of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates, causing frequent earthquakes.
