Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir emphasised Pakistan’s commitment to mitigating regional tensions during a strategic dialogue in Washington, D.C.

During his official U.S. visit, Field Marshal Munir engaged with scholars, policy experts, and media from leading think tanks, as the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported. He articulated Pakistan’s stance on global and regional issues, advocating for a rules-based international order. Key points included:

  • Counter-Terrorism Efforts: Munir detailed Pakistan’s sacrifices in the global war on terrorism, citing operations like Maarka e Haq and Bunyanum Marsoos, and criticised regional actors using terrorism as hybrid warfare.
  • Economic Potential: He highlighted untapped sectors like IT, agriculture, and mining and invited international collaboration for mutual prosperity.
  • Diplomatic Approach: The COAS promoted dialogue and adherence to international law to resolve conflicts, reinforcing Pakistan’s role in fostering cooperative security.
