The Pakistan Army saved six climbers, including five foreign nationals, trapped in the Concordia and Shigar mountain ranges.
The rescued were Polish alpinist Adam and his local guide Muhammad Iqbal from Shigar. At the same time, George Hurst, David Cope, Stephen Ryan, and Darren Corby from the UK were stranded in the towering Concordia range, which rises to approximately 17,000 feet.
Upon learning about the climbers’ plight, the Pakistan Army promptly initiated a rescue mission, deploying army aviation helicopters. Post-rescue, the climbers, facing severe respiratory issues due to the altitude, received immediate medical assistance from the army personnel.
Expressing their gratitude, the rescued mountaineers commended the Pakistan Army’s swift and effective response during their dire situation.
