Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi recently held discussions with his Chinese counterpart at the office of the People’s Republic of China’s mission to the United Nations in New York.
During the meeting, the officials reviewed Pakistan-China relations, focusing on security matters and China’s support for Pakistani law enforcement through training and advanced technology.
The Chinese minister commended the establishment of the Special Protection Unit (SPU) in Islamabad, designed to secure foreigners, especially Chinese nationals, and pledged full support to enhance the capabilities of Pakistani law enforcement.
He also acknowledged the progress in resolving the Dasu incident and invited Minister Naqvi to attend the Global Security Forum in China this September.
Minister Naqvi accepted the invitation and expressed gratitude for China’s ongoing support.
This meeting followed an earlier discussion this month between Naqvi and the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, focusing on the security of Chinese citizens in Pakistan.
Naqvi emphasized the government’s commitment to the safety of Chinese nationals, stating, “The protection of our Chinese brothers working for Pakistan’s development is the government’s top priority. Our friendship is unbreakable, and we will thwart any conspiracy against it.”
He further stressed the importance of stringent security measures for all foreign nationals in Pakistan.
Additionally, an advisory group from China’s Ministry of Interior will visit Pakistan soon to further collaborate on security issues.
