Understanding WP-29 Standards
For context, WP-29 standards operate within the UNECE Inland Transport Committee’s institutional framework, offering a global regulatory forum. Three UN Agreements from 1958, 1997, and 1998 underpin these standards, granting member countries the authority to establish regulations about motor vehicles and their equipment. These regulations encompass UN Regulations (1958 Agreement), United Nations Global Technical Regulations (UN GTRs) linked to the 1998 Agreement, and UN Rules associated with the 1997 Agreement.
