The Prime Minister of Syria Wael al-Halaqi discussed earlier today,  with the  Pakistani Ambassador in Damascus Syed Athar Hussain Bukhari bilateral relations and means to develop them, mainly in economic, trade, industrial, agricultural, and development sectors.

All-Halaqi expressed Syria’s desire to reactivate the agreements signed between the two countries, sign new agreements, and expand trade base, especially in the fields of grains, rice, sugar, information technology, pharmaceuticals, and surgical and medical supplies, as well as boosting cultural exchange and establishing joint investment projects.

In turn, Bukhari asserted the Pakistani government’s keenness to developing bilateral relations and expressed the Pakistani people and government’s support for the Syrian people and their leadership in their war against terrorism.

On a relevant note, Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs, Local Administration Minister Omar Ghalawanji met Bukhari, with Ghalawanji affirming that the Syrian government, represented by the Higher Committee for Relief, is exerting all efforts to alleviate the crisis effects on Syrians, and that this has been the case since the beginning of the crisis.

For his part, Bukhari affirmed that Pakistani stance towards the crisis in Syria is firm, and that any solution for the crisis must be devised by the Syrians themselves.
