Kurram, Pakistan: Fresh Pak-Afghan border clashes erupted on Tuesday in the Kurram sector, ending a short period of calm. These incidents mark the latest in a series of Pak-Afghan clashes at the border.
According to security officials, Afghan Taliban fighters, joined by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants, opened unprovoked fire on Pakistani military positions during the Pak-Afghan clashes.
In response, the Pakistan Army launched precision strikes, destroying several Taliban posts and vehicles. Fires were seen across the border after the retaliatory operation amid ongoing Pak-Afghan clashes.
Security officials confirmed that a Taliban tank was destroyed during the exchange, forcing militants to abandon their positions. A second tank was hit in a “highly professional strike” as it moved along the front lines.
The Army also targeted a training camp in Naeem, used by militants for attacks inside Pakistan. The facility was completely destroyed, officials said.

In an intense engagement at Shamshad Post, Pakistani forces destroyed a fourth tank within an hour. Another tank position at Nargasar Post in Khost province was also neutralised.
Night-vision footage showed flames rising from a sixth destroyed tank at Turkmanzai Top, highlighting the intensity of the Pak-Afghan clashes.
Officials said Taliban fighters raised a white flag at one post, signalling surrender, before retreating and abandoning their equipment.

A key commander of the Fitna al-Khawarij group was reportedly killed during the operation. Officials said militants on both sides of the border were seen fleeing in disarray. Last week, Afghan Taliban forces, allegedly backed by Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khawarij elements, launched an unprovoked attack on Pakistani positions on the night of October 11–12.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), more than 200 Taliban fighters were killed, while 23 Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom in those clashes. The ISPR statement added that Pakistan inflicted significant damage on Taliban posts, camps, and support networks.
“For regional peace, Pakistan urges the Taliban government to take verifiable action against groups like FAK, FAH, and ISKP/Daesh operating from Afghan soil,” the statement said.
Pakistan temporarily closed all border crossings with Afghanistan on Sunday following the escalation in the ongoing Pak Afghan clashes.
