Overseas Pakistanis remit $7.8b in first five months of FY16-17

Overseas Pakistanis (OPs) have remitted US $7874.49 million in first five months (July to November) of Fiscal Year 2016-17, compared with US $8072.21 million received during the same period in the preceding year.

According to the Ministry of Overseas and Human Resource Development, during November 2016, the inflow of worker’s remittances amounted to US $1616.43 million, which is 3.63% higher than October 2016 and 3.27% higher than November 2015.

The country wise details for the month of October 2016 show that inflows from Saudi Arabia, UAE, USA, UK, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and EU countries amounted to US $ 465.19 million, US $ 362.71 million, US $193.98 million, US $192.8 million, US $193.12 million and US $37.03 million respectively compared with the inflow of US $488.29 million, US $350.84 million, US $192.39 million, US $191 million, US $191.46  million and US $31.64 million respectively in November 2015.

Remittances received from Norway, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Japan and other countries during November 2016 amounted to US $171.60 million together as against US $119.57 million received in November 2015. (APP)
