The Pakistani movie “Joyland” has been shortlisted for the 95th Academy Awards.
The film, directed by Saim Sadiq, is Pakistan’s first entry in the International Feature Film category of the Academy Awards.
On Instagram, British actor Riz Ahmed shared Deadline news on Joyland’s nomination.
In September, it was revealed that the film starring Alina Khan, Ali Junejo, Rasti Farooq, Sarwat Gilani, Salman Peerzada, and Sania Saeed would represent the nation in the 95th cycle of the most prestigious film awards.
Tuesday, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the nominees for the 2023 Oscars in ten categories.
When Joyland debuted at Cannes in May 2022, it made history as the first Pakistani film to be admitted to the famous festival.
