Opera has revamped its Opera One browser for iPhone, now incorporating advanced AI image generation capabilities powered by Google DeepMind’s Imagen2 text-to-image model. Announced on Tuesday, the updated browser marks a significant enhancement, aligning with the recent implementation of the European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA).
The new browser, first launched last year and recently emerging from beta testing, transforms the web experience on iOS devices. It features a redesigned user interface with multiple navigation options and a carousel view that enriches the iPhone’s functionality.
In January, Opera revealed plans to develop an AI-powered alternative to Safari, and this release delivers on that promise. The browser now offers Aria, Opera’s AI assistant, which facilitates web searches, text, and image generation with voice input capabilities, moving beyond traditional typing.
Opera One’s interface adapts to website themes by adjusting the iPhone’s status bars’ colour and introducing a ‘Bottom Search’ feature for easy access. Users can select from three navigation styles—Standard Navigation, the Fast Action Button, or Bottom Search to enhance their browsing efficiency with smart suggestions and predictive keywords.
Additionally, a new swipe-to-search gesture allows users to initiate a search by swiping down, similar to accessing Spotlight search on iOS devices. This browser version is available for download from the Apple App Store, confirmed by Gadgets 360 staff for its presence on iPhone.
