Inspector-General Balochistan Ahsan Mehboob has confessed  that only urban areas of the province are currently under his control.

Inspector-General Balochistan Ahsan Mehboob, while speaking to  local news channel ‘ARY News’ program ‘Off the Record’ said that only urban areas are under police full control, however, he rejected the impression that Police was not competent enough to provide security and implement the National Action Plan.

He said that efforts are being made to increase Police presence in all parts of the province especially Quetta and adjoining areas where there is risk of terrorism.

When asked about the security at the Civil Hospital where a powerful explosion took place killing at least 72 people and injured more than 100, he said that it is their duty to provide round-the-clock security at the hospital.

“Whenever such incident takes place, it is our responsibility to provide security,” he remarked, and said that even three police officials were injured in the blast with the lawyers and are currently under treatment.

He said that he is not alone in the driving seat, but is being assisted by the provincial government, the armed forces and the Frontier Constabulary force, and together they will fight against terrorism. (PhotoNews / ARY News)
