The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has dismantled an extensive drug trafficking ring, resulting in the apprehension of 11 suspects.
The operation led to the seizure of 33 packages ready for distribution, confirmed the ANF representative. The confiscated narcotics comprise 53 kg of hashish, 1.6 kg of crystal methamphetamine (ice), and 1.2 kg of opium.
Investigations indicate that the culprits exploited online apps for illicit drug distribution, establishing a presence across all provincial boundaries. They ingeniously embedded their operations within legitimate online shopping platforms to facilitate their trade, detailed the ANF.
The authorities are now pursuing additional gang associates as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Separately, on December 22, the ANF disrupted another drug syndicate targeting educational centres in the capital. A strategic strike in Islamabad’s G-9 sector led to three arrests, including Quetta police official Amjad Khan, and the seizure of significant drug quantities, including one kilogram each of heroin and ice and 18 kilograms of hashish.
Ice, a potent methamphetamine typically consumed through snorting, smoking, or injection, poses a growing threat, particularly among addicts.
