Omar Ayub Khan has resigned as Secretary General of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to focus more effectively on his responsibilities as Leader of the Opposition in the national assembly.
In his resignation, Omar Ayub Khan thanked PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan for accepting his resignation.
Senator Shibli Faraz delivered Ayub’s resignation letter to PTI’s founder at Adiala Jail. Following this resignation, expected organizational changes in PTI were hinted at. Ayub cited the conflicting demands of his roles as the reason for his resignation and suggested appointing a new Secretary General.
Reports of internal dissent within PTI surfaced, with some lawmakers contemplating resigning in protest against leadership failures. These lawmakers are pushing for efforts to release Imran Khan from jail. In response to Ayub’s resignation, Sher Afzal Marwat demanded similar actions from other party leaders, criticizing the current leadership’s effectiveness and calling for the resignation of Shibli Faraz to reform party leadership.
