Omar Ayub, a PTI leader and National Assembly opposition leader, demanded the immediate dismissal of the Punjab Inspector General (IG) of Police, IG of Prisons, and Interior Secretary. He cited their unlawful actions during his detention.

The incident occurred as Ayub and other PTI leaders tried to visit Imran Khan, the party’s founder, who was jailed under a court order.
At a press conference in Islamabad’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) House, Ayub stated, “As the court ordered, we aimed to meet the founder chairman directly from Adiala Jail.”
He reported arriving at the jail at 2 pm and facing long delays. Jail officials made them wait six hours. “We demanded a clear answer about our meeting but got no response.”
Ayub further noted an instance where police forcibly held Ahmad Khan Bacher’s arm and blocked vehicles with Pakistan’s flag, including his and PTI leader Shibli Faraz’s.
Authorities forcibly removed the drivers and locked the cars inside the checkpoint. Ayub charged the police with illegal detentions. “They trapped our vehicles inside, claiming they had arrest orders,” he said.
He plans to file a case against the involved officers and called for ousting Punjab’s top officials. He pledged to take the matter to Parliament and seek intervention from the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
Senate opposition leader Shibli Faraz condemned the incident, calling it a violation of Pakistan’s Constitution.
He emphasized the forceful removal of PTI members from their vehicles. “They dragged us out, and our flagged vehicles were taken inside. It’s deeply distressing,” he said.
Earlier today, Punjab Police briefly detained PTI’s top leaders outside Adiala Jail for violating Section 144. They released them later.
Police also arrested several leaders, including Chairman Sahibzada Hamid Raza, as they attempted to meet the jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
