The CCD said women’s safety remains one of its top priorities. Officials linked the action to the broader law enforcement vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who has approved a major overhaul of the department.

Under the new plan, the CCD will be upgraded to a premier investigative agency with a broader mandate. The government says the department will receive modern forensic tools, advanced investigative systems, AI software, intelligence and surveillance capabilities, and updated machinery.
The reform also includes a fully equipped headquarters and expanded offices, stations, and residential facilities across Punjab. Officials say these changes are meant to improve crime prevention, strengthen investigations, and build public trust.
In addition, the government plans to launch a campaign against illegal firearms after Eid al-Fitr. It says the move will support wider efforts to reduce violent crime and improve public safety across the province.
