According to official details, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has made the discovery at the Baragzai X-01 well. The company has formally notified the Pakistan Stock Exchange of the development.

OGDCL reported that a cased-hole drill stem test yielded encouraging preliminary results. The well is estimated to produce around 3,100 barrels of oil per day and approximately 8.15 million cubic feet of gas per day. Drilling began on December 30, 2024, and reached a depth of 5,170 metres, extending into the Kingriali Formation.
Oil and gas have also been identified previously in the Kingriali and Datta formations at the same site, further strengthening the area’s commercial potential.
The company stated that the latest discovery will enhance national energy production, increase OGDCL’s hydrocarbon reserves, and contribute to Pakistan’s overall energy security.
