Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said Russia could deliver natural gas to Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The Russian Deputy Minister, Novak, stated that Russia could deliver natural gas to Pakistan and Afghanistan through Central Asia or Iran.

Pakistan’s State Minister for Petroleum, Musadik Malik, stated talks are underway with Russian private entities to purchase LNG (LNG). He noted that Islamabad worked with Russian LNG producers.

The state minister said pipeline discussions with Moscow have advanced.

During gas pipeline talks, Moscow encouraged Pakistan to honor its pledge to the Pakistan Stream Gas Pipeline (PSGP) between Karachi and Lahore, Punjab.

Pakistani team recommended changing the PSGP project model. The Russian side indicated the project model under GtG (government-to-government) arrangement had been settled, except for minor shareholding agreement details.

On September 18, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif claimed, “Russia has proposed extending its gas pipes infrastructure to Central Asian republics to supply gas to Pakistan through Afghanistan.”
