Novak Djokovic has officially withdrawn from the ATP Finals due to a shoulder injury. The 24-time Grand Slam champion confirmed his decision on Saturday, shortly after securing his 101st career title at an ATP event in Athens.
Italian player Lorenzo Musetti will now replace Djokovic in the Jimmy Connors Group. Interestingly, Musetti was the player Djokovic defeated in the Athens final just prior to this announcement.
The Serbian star shared the news directly with his fans on social media. He expressed clear disappointment, stating, “I was really looking forward to competing in Turin and giving my best but after today’s final in Athens, I’m sad to share that I need to withdraw due to an ongoing injury.”
He added a heartfelt apology to his supporters, saying, “I’m truly sorry to the fans who were hoping to see me play — your support means so much.” Furthermore, he wished the other players well and confirmed his intention to return to the court soon.

Djokovic’s withdrawal marks a significant shift for the season-ending tournament, which begins Sunday in Turin. As a record seven-time champion, his absence is a major loss for the event where he was set to face rival Carlos Alcaraz.
This development, however, creates a historic moment for Italian tennis. With Musetti joining defending champion Jannik Sinner, the ATP Finals will feature two Italian players for the very first time.
Musetti is now set to make his debut at the tournament. He will open his campaign against Taylor Fritz on Monday.
This injury-related withdrawal is a repeat of last year, when Djokovic also missed the ATP Finals. He won the title on his most recent appearance in 2023.
