Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s position that Afghanistan should be peaceful, progressive, and affluent.
In an interview with an Indonesian television channel, FM Bilawal stated that no one wants Afghanistan to become a “hotbed or launching pad of terrorist operations in the region or elsewhere.
“We are hoping that the one-year-old Afghan interim administration would not only address the issue of terrorism but also offer security because this is a vital prerequisite for peace and development,” he said
The statement by the foreign minister was released two days after Afghan border forces opened fire without provocation and without regard for who they hit in Chaman, which is located in Balochistan. Six innocent bystanders were killed, while 17 more were hurt due to the attack.
The Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Bilawal, stated that Pakistanis and Afghans were neighbors and would continue to be neighbors despite the severe situation at Pakistan’s western borders. He went on to say that it was in Pakistan’s best interest for peace in Afghanistan. Those were his exact words.
