The recent incident involving Pakistani actor Nimra Khan initially reported as an attempted abduction, has been classified as a case of harassment by the police.
The clarification comes from the Darakhshan sub-divisional police officer, who confirmed that only one individual was involved, contrary to earlier reports of three suspects.
Earlier this month, a visibly shaken Khan shared a video statement with her followers, describing a harrowing encounter outside a hotel in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase VIII. She claimed to have narrowly escaped an abduction attempt.

Although Khan did not formally file a complaint, her video’s widespread attention prompted police to investigate. In updating the public on their findings, the officer indicated that this was not an attempted kidnapping but rather an incident of harassment involving a single individual.
This revelation is part of a broader issue of safety in Karachi. The officer noted that two similar cases had been reported recently, with suspects in both instances now under arrest.
Expressing her thoughts on the police’s handling of the situation, Khan conveyed satisfaction with the progress made. In a video released just before Independence Day, she discussed the broader implications of her experience, raising concerns about women’s safety in Pakistan and detailing the events of that day. She recounted waiting for her car when she was approached by three men who attempted to abduct her at gunpoint.
