Nikki Glaser, the acclaimed comedian and host of the 2025 Golden Globes, recently shared insights into the jokes she chose to omit from her monologue at Sunday night’s ceremony.
In a conversation with Howard Stern on his SiriusXM show, Glaser, aged 40, disclosed two particularly sharp jokes that were dropped from the final script, including a quip about Ben Affleck and a risky remark about United Healthcare CEO-turned-accused murderer Luigi Mangione.
Glaser considered taking a playful jab at Affleck’s well-known romantic history with two famous Jennifers: Garner and Lopez. The intended joke was: “Here’s to Ben Affleck, I can’t wait to see which Jennifer you try to ruin next.” While finding the joke clever, Glaser ultimately felt it was too biting for the evening’s festive atmosphere. “I argued like, ‘Oh, I didn’t say ruin them. I said he tried to ruin them,’ so it’s not against them,” Glaser clarified to Stern. “But I was like, ‘That would have been insane.'”
Nikki Glaser crushed Golden Globe roast:
– “Ozempic’s biggest night!”
– “You’re all so famous and powerful. You can do anything, except tell the country who to vote for.”
– “The Bear. The Penguin. Baby Reindeer, these aren’t just things in RFK’s freezer.” pic.twitter.com/DKVPgEPhhH

Nikki Glaser Omits Bold Ben Affleck Joke
Affleck, who has been in the public eye for his relationships, recently concluded his second divorce from Jennifer Lopez after a two-year marriage. The couple engaged in 2002, ended in 2004, and reignited their romance many years after Affleck’s 2005 to 2017 marriage to Jennifer Garner ended.
Glaser also opted out of a joke linking Glen Powell, nominated for Hit Man, with Mangione, who was in the news earlier that year. She noted that test audiences did not react well to the comparison: “Luigi was a big deal for a while, and then it kind of faded,” she remarked.

Instead, she chose a lighter approach during the ceremony, making a humorous comment about Powell: “Glen Powell, what a year you’ve had. Oh, my God, Glen, you were in everything: ‘Twisters,’ ‘Hit Man,’ my head when I’m having sex with my boyfriend,” she joked.
Despite leaving out some edgier content, Glaser’s monologue was acclaimed. Her sharp wit and confident delivery on topics ranging from Timothée Chalamet to Wicked and Joker 2 drew applause from fans and critics, showcasing her ability to captivate an audience without crossing the line.
