TV host and former actress Nida Yasir has issued a public apology. She sought forgiveness for recent comments about food delivery riders. Yasir stated she is “a human, not an angel” who sometimes fails to express herself properly. The morning show host said her mistake was a “wrong choice of words.”
She found herself at the centre of controversy after a live broadcast segment. Yasir discussed home-delivery services with a guest on her show. She blamed some riders for deliberately not carrying change to get extra money, and described making riders wait as a way to “teach them a lesson.”
These comments quickly sparked significant online criticism. Many netizens accused her of lacking empathy for gig workers. They highlighted the financial struggles of underpaid delivery personnel. Others noted that delivery apps explicitly ask customers to have exact change ready.
About #NidaYasir's “change” debate with delivery riders
It is important to get one thing straight: in standard cash transactions, the customer is responsible to pay the exact amount, while the seller or rider returns change only if it is available. There is no law that makes it… pic.twitter.com/yNoxeku9JL

After days of online debate, Yasir directly addressed the backlash. She insisted she never intended to hurt anyone or target the entire rider community. Yasir clarified that the incident happened during a live, unedited broadcast. She acknowledged that she should have specified “some riders,” not implied that all did.
“I’m not here to hurt anyone,” Yasir stated in her apology. “I appear on screen as I am, and I have emotions like anyone else. I am a human, not an angel.” She explained that people sometimes fail to convey what they truly feel. Words can be misinterpreted in the heat of a live conversation.
