The NFL is starting its 2025 season with a special game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil. This is the first international NFL game of the season and the first time a game is streamed only on YouTube.
Latin music star Karol G will perform at halftime, adding global excitement to the event. Karol G, whose full name is Carolina Giraldo Navarro, has won a Grammy and earned more than 30 billion YouTube views. Her songs mix reggaeton, Latin pop, cumbia, and salsa, reaching fans worldwide. “I am excited to perform at the NFL’s first YouTube broadcast,” she said. “Sharing my Latin culture here means a lot to me.”
Karol G’s June 2025 album, Tropicoqueta, reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums and No. 3 on the Billboard 200. It was the biggest streaming debut for any Latin female artist this year. Her halftime show will highlight Latin heritage.

The event also includes Brazilian singer Ana Castela, who will sing the Brazilian anthem. American jazz musician Kamasi Washington will perform the U.S. anthem, blending musical styles.
The game features star quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his Chiefs team against Justin Herbert and the Chargers. Kansas City lost receiver Rashee Rice to a suspension, so they will depend on Xavier Worthy, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Travis Kelce. The Chargers have strong players like Ladd McConkey, Khalil Mack, and Derwin James. They want to turn regular-season wins into playoff success. The Chiefs have often beaten the Chargers in past games.
The NFL opener in Brazil, featuring Karol G’s performance and Live streaming on YouTube, marks a bold step for football and global sports. The matchup between the Chiefs and Chargers promises an exciting start to the new season.
