The National Highway Authority has announced another toll tax increase on the Lahore-Islamabad M2 motorway.
The adjustment sees toll rates for various vehicle types rise between 3 and 19 rupees per kilometer. As a result, the cost of travelling the 360-kilometre stretch between Lahore and Islamabad will now reach thousands of rupees.
The updated toll rates for cars, jeeps, and taxis are 3.39 rupees per kilometer. Wagons will be charged 5.66 rupees per kilometer, and buses will incur a cost of 7.93 rupees per kilometer. Toll rates for trucks vary between 11 and 19 rupees per kilometer, depending on the category.
With these changes, the toll for cars travelling from Lahore to Islamabad has risen from 1,100 rupees to 1,210 rupees. Vans will now pay 2,030 rupees; coasters will see an increase from 2,240 rupees to 2,840 rupees; buses will be charged 4,060 rupees, trucks 5,280 rupees, and trailers 6,780 rupees.
Officials from the National Highway Authority explained that this increase is part of an annual 10% hike stipulated in their contract.
