Netflix is ending support for older iPhones and iPads that run iOS 16. According to a report by 9to5Mac, Netflix has started notifying users on these devices, stating, “We’ve updated the Netflix app! To use the latest version, install iOS 17 or later.”

In July, Netflix also stopped supporting the third-generation Apple TV. The company emailed subscribers about this change and explained that the update aims to “ensure you maintain the best possible Netflix viewing experience.”

With this new update, the Netflix app will no longer be supported by the iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and the first-generation iPad Pro and iPad 5, which cannot be upgraded to iOS 17.

Consequently, users of these models will be unable to receive future updates from Netflix, including important bug fixes and security enhancements. Apple is set to release iOS 18 on September 16th.
