Netflix is opening the new year with a strong lineup of fresh movies and television series, offering viewers a mix of mystery dramas, romantic comedies, action thrillers, and highly anticipated returning hits.
The month begins on January 1 with Run Away, the latest screen adaptation of Harlan Coben’s novel. The eight-episode series stars James Nesbitt as a father searching for his missing daughter and is adapted by Danny Brocklehurst. The cast also includes Minnie Driver, Ruth Jones, Alfred Enoch, and Lucian Msamati.
Romantic comedy fans will see People We Meet on Vacation arrive on January 9. Based on Emily Henry’s bestselling novel, the film stars Emily Bader and Tom Blyth as longtime friends who reconnect on a trip abroad, blending romance with emotional depth.
Netflix’s biggest film release of the month lands on January 16 with The Rip. The action thriller reunites Ben Affleck and Matt Damon as Miami police officers whose partnership begins to unravel after they discover a massive cache of cash, triggering suspicion, betrayal, and escalating danger.
Later this month, Netflix will release Bridgerton season four, part one on January 29. The new season shifts its focus to Benedict Bridgerton and continues the series’ tradition of romance and high-society intrigue. The season consists of eight episodes, split into two parts.
Alongside new originals, Netflix is also expanding its catalogue with several acclaimed older films, including Dune, 12 Years a Slave, Free Solo, District 9, and Erin Brockovich.
With a mix of prestige dramas, crowd-pleasing romances, high-profile action films, and beloved classics, Netflix’s January slate sets a strong tone for the streaming year ahead.
