On Tuesday, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) announced another surge in electricity rates, increasing them by Rs1.25 per unit.
As stated in the notice released by the regulatory authority, the Rs1.25 per unit increase in electricity costs results from the monthly fuel adjustment. Consumers will have to bear the additional cost starting from August.
It’s important to note that this hike in electricity cost will apply to all consumer categories except for lifeline consumers and K-Electric (KE) users.
On May 24, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) requested an increase in the power tariff as part of a third-quarter adjustment.
According to the NEPRA’s notification, the reduction in K-Electric’s power tariff is due to adjustments in fuel costs for April.
