Mian Nawaz Sharif, President of PML-N, reportedly plans to return to London next month. Media sources indicate that the former Prime Minister is expected to depart for London in the second week of September, with a scheduled departure date of September 11.
During his stay in the UK, Nawaz Sharif will undergo a medical check-up and spend time with his sons. He is also anticipated to engage in significant political meetings.
Senior PML-N leader Senator Irfan Siddiqui highlighted that Nawaz Sharif is poised to play a crucial and constructive role in national politics. He emphasized that Nawaz Sharif has historically avoided initiating conflicts and noted that past disputes with the military began from the other side.
Siddiqui also referenced Nawaz Sharif’s removal from office, attributing it to the Panama Papers scandal, and suggested that the real motive was linked to a denied extension request from then-Army Chief General Raheel Sharif.

The Senator further discussed the Dawn Leaks controversy, which involved demands for the removal of Pervez Rasheed, Tariq Fatemi, and Rao Tehseen from their positions, decisions Nawaz Sharif was hesitant to make but eventually agreed to under pressure. During this period, ISI DG General Zaheer-ul-Islam allegedly urged Nawaz Sharif to resign, a proposal he firmly rejected.
Notably, after being imprisoned on various charges, Nawaz Sharif travelled to London in 2019 for medical treatment, facilitated by a sworn assurance from his brother, Shehbaz Sharif, to the court for his return.
Nawaz Sharif returned to Pakistan in October 2023 after four years abroad. Upon his return, all charges against him were dismissed, and he actively participated in the February 8 general elections, subsequently being elected unopposed as PML-N President in May of the same year.
