Nawaz Sharif, the leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has designated his brother and party president, Shehbaz Sharif, as the nation’s prime ministerial role nominee and PML-N’s Senior Vice President, Maryam Nawaz, for the Punjab chief Minister position.
During a press briefing, Shehbaz Sharif expressed his desire for Nawaz Sharif to embrace the prime ministerial position. He confirmed that following party deliberations, Maryam Nawaz is slated to be the Chief Minister candidate for Punjab.
Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to PML-Q’s leader, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, for convening various political factions and emphasizing the unity message to the nation.
The PML-N president highlighted the conclusion of the electoral process and the forthcoming formation of a new parliament, underscoring the collective fight against national challenges, with the economy being paramount. He advocated for unity among leadership to confront and resolve these issues.

Shehbaz Sharif noted the two-thirds majority held by the parties present at the meeting within the National Assembly and acknowledged the majority held by PTI-backed independents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, expressing respect for the PTI’s nominee for the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Responding to inquiries about Asif Ali Zardari’s potential presidential candidacy, Shehbaz Sharif assured a positive outcome.
Furthermore, the former prime minister called for the cessation of ego-driven disputes and stressed radical measures necessary to salvage the national economy. He reiterated an invitation to all political entities to endorse the Charter of Economy, advocating for collective advancement under the Charter of Democracy and the cessation of mutual criticisms.
