Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived at the General Headquarters on Friday to meet with Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif over national security.
The premier is accompanied by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
The meeting was reviewing the overall security situation of the country as well as the action taken after the recent attack on Peshawar’s Army Public School that claimed over 140 lives.
The top army command will brief the prime minister on the country’s internal security situation. The army chief will also apprise the premier over his recent visit to Kabul and his meetings with the Afghan leadership.
The meeting comes hours after General Raheel Sharif approved the execution of six terrorists sentenced to death by military courts.
The army chief’s approval of their executions came a day after the prime minister lifted the moratorium on capital punishment in the country, calls for which had come in the aftermath of the deadly siege of the school in Peshawar.
