National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf has approved the resignations of an additional 43 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf members of the lower house.
Ashraf approved the resignations a few days ago and sent a summary to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), according to representatives of the speaker’s office who spoke on the record under anonymity.
As a result of the approval, the National Assembly is now comprised solely of PTI lawmakers with opposing views.
A day after 45 PTI MNAs attempted to meet with the speaker to have their resignations revoked, the resignations were approved, which is an interesting development.
Fawad Chauhdry, a senior PTI leader, responded by stating that Raja Riaz’s removal as opposition leader was the primary motivation for the PTI’s small-scale return to the assembly because it had “no importance.”.
Shehbaz Sharif is currently relying on lotas (turncoats) to save his government because he has lost the support of 172 lawmakers, according to a tweet from Fawad.
He added that the speaker’s efforts to save Raja Riaz had left 40% of the seats empty.
Elections in the nation will soon be held. General elections are the only way to address this issue, according to Fawad.
