Naomi Campbell finds herself at the centre of her most significant legal controversy after accusations of misappropriating funds from her charity, Fashion for Relief. The model transitioned from the runway to philanthropy and is now under scrutiny.
The UK Charity Commission has uncovered that Campbell redirected only 8.5% of the charity’s earnings over the past six years to its designated causes.
The investigation reveals that the remaining funds were used for personal expenses, investments, or trustee benefits. Since its inception in 2006, the foundation has reportedly spent nearly two million euros on luxury hotels, spa treatments, and private jets, aimed at supporting victims of Hurricane Katrina and other humanitarian efforts.
In light of these findings, Campbell has been handed a five-year disqualification from managing or directing charitable funds. Despite her claims of being unaware of the financial mismanagement and expressing deep concern, the Charity Commission has affirmed the sanctions.
Additionally, two of Campbell’s associates, Bianka Hellmich and Veronica Chou, have been penalized. They face nine and four years of similar restrictions, respectively.
