National Database and Registration Authority has expanded its mobile-based union council registration facility to Larkana and Tando Muhammad Khan, following its successful rollout in Karachi East and Shaheed Benazirabad.
Under the initiative, citizens can now register births, deaths, marriages, and divorces without visiting union council offices. Applicants can complete documentation digitally, submit requests through the Pak ID Mobile App, and receive official certificates at home.
Officials said the service will soon expand to other districts and aims to cover the entire Sindh province in the coming months. The move seeks to reduce administrative hurdles, save time, and improve access to essential civil registration services.

Facial Recognition-Based Biometric Verification Launched
On Wednesday, NADRA also introduced a facial recognition-based biometric verification system to assist citizens who face difficulties with fingerprint authentication.
Authorities broadened the legal definition of biometric verification through amendments to the National Identity Card laws. Citizens can now verify their identity using facial recognition through the Pak ID Mobile App.

How the New Verification Process Works
If fingerprint verification fails, NADRA will direct the citizen to the nearest registration centre. After successful facial recognition, NADRA will issue a biometric verification certificate.
The certificate will include the holder’s photograph, CNIC number, name, father’s name, a unique tracking ID, and a QR code for authentication. NADRA has also urged government departments and private institutions to make the necessary arrangements to recognise facial recognition as a valid verification method.
Officials said these reforms mark a major step toward digital governance and improved public service delivery.
