Jamaat-e-Islami’s (JI) candidate for NA – 246 by-election has stepped down in favor of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
PTI leader Arif Alvi while talking to local news channel confirmed that the two parties have principally decided to form a coalition in Karachi like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Alvi also confirmed that PTI and JI has agreed on seat adjustment in local bodies elections, saying, “PTI and JI have decided to jointly contest by and LB elections.”
Alvi termed PTI and JI coalition as ‘highly vital’ for peace of Karachi.
Earlier, a high-level PTI delegation including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Asad Umar and Shireen Mazari approached JI chief Siraj-ul-Haq for cooperation in NA-246 constituency.
The PTI besought the JI chief to withdraw his candidate from NA-246, the sources remarked adding Haq reciprocated the call with positive overtures.
Sirajul Haq was quoted as saying, “The strategy will be laid out about the entire scenario including upcoming local bodies elections, not just one seat.”
