Muttahida Qaumi Movement–Pakistan leader and Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal on Thursday demanded that Karachi be declared a federal territory under Articles 148 and 149 of the Constitution.
He said the move was necessary “for the sake of Pakistan.” Kamal made the remarks while addressing a press conference at his party’s headquarters in Bahadurabad. He criticised the Sindh government, saying it had failed to govern the city effectively.

According to Kamal, Karachi cannot remain under the Sindh government’s control any longer. He urged the federal government to step in and take responsibility for the country’s largest city.
“Enough is enough. Karachi cannot be left at the Sindh government’s mercy,” he said.

Kamal also called on the centre to recognise Karachi as Pakistan’s financial capital. He argued that direct federal control would help stabilise the city and protect its economic role.
