Muhammad Zubair, former Sindh governor, formally resigned from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Sunday.
In a discussion with local news channel ARY News, Zubair cited longstanding differences with party leadership concerning strategies, including the no-confidence motion against Imran Khan and the performance of the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s government over the past 16 months.
Zubair expressed that his concerns with the party had been communicated to the leadership well before his departure. He highlighted that the PML-N had strayed from its foundational slogan, “Vote Ko Izzat Do” (respect the vote), shifting its focus from confrontational to reconciliatory tactics and, most recently, to an economic narrative.
The former governor has not yet decided to align with any other political party but plans to decide soon. His departure raises questions about the internal coherence within PML-N as it adapts its strategies to Pakistan’s evolving political landscape.
