Mufti Muhammad Saeed confirmed the correctness of Taqi Usmani and Pir Karam Shah Al-Azhari’s verdict on the 39-day iddat period.
During a discussion at Duniya News, Kamran Shahid pointed out that as per Mufti Saeed’s statement, Bushra Bibi’s first marriage, which began on January 1st, would span 47 days, questioning the necessity of a second marriage. Mufti Saeed admitted he was unaware of the specific duration since the first marriage.
Mufti Saeed emphasized the integrity of a woman’s testimony in matters of iddat, asserting that it should be deemed reliable and final. He stated, “When a woman declares something, her words should be trusted as per Sharia. To challenge this is to meddle with divine boundaries.”
Addressing further inquiries, Kamran Shahid asked if Imran Khan provided any reasons for his remarriage beyond the iddat or if the iddat was the sole reason. Mufti Saeed disclosed, “I don’t recall any specific reasons being given, and it’s possible that none were mentioned.”
On the legitimacy of a woman’s testimony regarding her iddat, Mufti Saeed clarified, “When a woman has the authority to make a decision, her word should be respected. A woman’s statement is always considered credible.”
In concluding the interview, Kamran Shahid expressed his concern, suggesting that Mufti Saeed’s statements might not favour Khawar Maneka.
