On May 20, 2025, MSI introduced the MSI Claw 8 and the Claw 8 AI+ Polar Tempest Edition at Computex 2025 in Taipei, expanding its lineup of handheld gaming PCs.
MSI equips the Claw 8 with the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, signalling the company’s move away from Intel processors. The Polar Tempest Edition offers an upgraded 2TB NVMe SSD for expanded storage. Both devices deliver enhanced gaming performance, catering to the needs of modern gamers.
MSI Claw 8 Specifications
The Claw 8 features an 8-inch full HD+ (1920×1200) IPS touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits brightness, and variable refresh rate (VRR). It runs Windows 11 Home and is powered by an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme chipset, AMD Radeon 890M GPU, up to 24GB LPDDR5x-8000 RAM, and PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD storage.
Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, two USB 4.0 Type-C ports with Thunderbolt 4, a microSD reader, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The device, weighing 765g, has an 80Wh 6-cell battery, dual 2W speakers with DTS Audio, a six-axis IMU vibration motor, and a fingerprint reader.

The Polar Tempest Edition mirrors the Claw 8’s specs but offers up to 2TB NVMe SSD and a white finish with a glittering UV coating. It competes with devices like the Lenovo Legion Go and the ASUS ROG Ally. MSI showcased both at its Computex booth from May 20 to 23.
MSI has yet to announce pricing or availability for either model and plans to share further details in the coming months. The devices will compete directly with the ASUS ROG Ally 2 and the Lenovo Legion Go.
