Mohammad Haris, an accomplished wicket-keeper-batter, is set to assume the role of captain for Pakistan Shaheens in the ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup. This highly anticipated tournament will occur in Sri Lanka from July 14 to 23, featuring eight formidable teams competing for ultimate glory.
With his impressive record of five ODIs and nine T20Is, Haris, a captivating young talent, will be privileged to lead the Shaheens for the first time. As the reigning champions, Shaheens are eager to exhibit their skills on the field again. The team comprises a talented roster of emerging players who will gather at the National Cricket Academy to prepare. After the Eid-ul-Azha holidays, they will embark on a week-long training camp before departing for Colombo on July 12.
In the group stage, Shaheens will be pitted against India ‘A,’ Nepal, and Sri Lanka ‘A’ in Group ‘A.’ At the same time, Group ‘B’ comprises Afghanistan ‘A,’ Bangladesh ‘A,’ Oman, and the United Arab Emirates. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, leading to an exciting showdown.
Shaheens’ campaign kicks off on July 14 against Nepal, followed by challenging encounters against India ‘A’ on July 16 and Sri Lanka ‘A’ on July 18. As they set foot on the field, Shaheens aim to showcase their exceptional skills and defend their championship title.
